Trunks cut from a wide variety of fabrics also exist, showing in-the-field creativity. Those non-reg versions were usually rigger-made or tailor-made, using recycled uniforms, surplus shelter halves\/ponchos, or locally-milled fabrics.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003ePopular in South East Asia during the Vietnam War were\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.usmilitariaforum.com\/forums\/index.php?\/topic\/8631-vietnam-swimming-trunks-tiger-stripe\/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003ecamo versions\u003c\/a\u003e, flashing all kinds of disruptive patterns, a plethora of tiger stripes, Beogam, Mitchell, ERDL, etc. In-country made embroidered trunks featuring custom “moral patches”, in the non-PC “Party Suit” tradition, are coveted items for collectors today.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eFor our Mister Freedom® interpretation, the\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSCUBA Trunks\u003c\/strong\u003e, we combined details and cuts from several military-issued swim shorts from our archives, the oldest being a 1943 US Navy contract pair (\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.usmilitariaforum.com\/forums\/index.php?\/topic\/1590-us-navy-contracts\/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eNXsX-35162\u003c\/a\u003e) issued to a “NASH, R.D”, and the most unusual one a 1940s-50s private purchase pair labelled “Frank Bros.
